It is safe to say that Jessica has an addiction to travelling. Since completing her Russian history degrees at the University of East Anglia she has had ants in her pants, exploring Asia, Australasia, North America and Europe. Spain is the one place she remains loyal to; having visited various places throughout the country for eleven years. She has-finally- this year, taken it upon herself to actually start learning the language, so she can achieve more than just being capable of ordering an ice cream. This is alongside attempting to learn Gujarati. Transforming herself from a monolingual speaker, to a trilingual speaker over the course of one year is proving to be quite a challenge!

Naturally then, road-tripping in southern Africa has become an addiction! But this addiction doesn't mean she won't travel to other places: bite-sized pieces of Europe have gradually been checked off, her itchy-feet have taken her to Scotland for a year, and a great American road-trip is on the bucket list. Sam is hopefully in the transitory year between a BA and an MA in English Literature. Studying in London for three years (at Queen Mary), involved much searching for green, open space, which was never an easy task. Often following his nose, Sam ventured around London in his free time; walking, taking photographs, drinking pretentious drinks, and reading pretentious texts. All this pomposity fed an urge to travel, to escape London's grey enclosures and wander through pastures new. This summer was spent in eight European countries, travelling cheaply, meeting locals, and searching for more green and open space in urban environments. A final-leg hitch-hike with his dad from Leipzig to Barcelona was followed by a long ferry journey across the Mediterranean to Tangier, and on to Marrakesh.

Emily Brock

Emily Brock is a twentysomething year old American and English lit kid at UEA recently returned to the UK after gallivanting around the States on her year abroad. She’s cuddled Pandas in China, played croquet in Canada and lost her lungs in Iceland (Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, France, and Spain were wedged somewhere in between). Nova Scotia, Norway and New Zealand are next on her list (her feet are so itchy her soles keep breaking). When she’s not pre-emptively taking off all her clothes at airport security, she writes poetry and talks openly about mooncups a little bit too much…

Georgia Hayward

Georgia is a big believer in telling and hearing stories, which is why she travels and writes. This summer she worked at an American summer camp teaching wilderness skills. Afterwards she tripped around the East Coast where her journal was declared ‘obese’ by the check-in guy at Boston’s Logan International Airport because it weighed eight pounds, putting her luggage over the allowance. Awks. When she’s not travelling Georgia can be found studying Drama and Theatre at Aberystwyth (yes that is a real place, and yes, it is Welsh) University, singing in the acapella choir and guilt-baking for her friends!

Barbara's life could be best described as the never-ending bucket list. She loves to be on and off the road and is constantly busy planning new short term micro-adventures around the UK or long-term journeys far away. Before and after graduating nursing college in 2007 in Germany, she can look back to extensive travels throughout Europe, South East Asia, Indonesia, Australia, New Zealand, Polynesia, the US and Canada. Exploring nature and other cultures and customs has always been an essential part of her life. Barbara is fascinated by the beauty of quiet solitude in the mountains or off-the-beaten-track beaches, but also enjoys being in vibrant cities all over the globe. Currently based in London, she is thinking of moving back to Canada where she spent the last two years; already dreaming of a road trip to Alaska and sailing back from there through the Inside Passage on the way to Vancouver.

Edie is a student at the University of Bristol studying Politics and Spanish. She finds the combination of these two subjects especially rewarding during an era of turbulent political change, and feels that they give her an interesting perspective when travelling (and writing!) Aside from travelling, Edie adores cooking (especially recreating dishes she has tried abroad), loves to read when she can fit it around her studies (always trying to find the next best coffee or pizza place to do so) and has recently become addicted to her local art-house cinema in Bristol! Volunteering is very important to Edie, whether it be with refugees in Calais, or more locally, cooking surplus supermarket produce for those who are at risk of food poverty. Edie loves to write, is deputy editor of the travel section of Bristol’s student newspaper and Co-Editor-in-Chief of a student-run magazine in Spanish, Catalan and Portuguese, called ‘Pensador'. Her favourite thing to do while travelling is to hunt out the unknown, hidden spots of a city that make for the greatest of memories.
